- What is a Corporate Action?
A Corporate Action is any event initiated by a corporation which impacts its shareholders. For some such events, shareholders may or must respond to the Corporate Action or select from a list of possible actions. Splits, dividends, mergers and acquisitions are all examples of Corporate Actions. For example, a company may decide to split its shares 2:1, leaving shareholders with twice as many shares as they had before.
- How can I take up a Corporate Action?
Once you are logged into your account you can view and take up Corporate Actions on stock you hold under the Corporate Actions page within eServices. Alternatively you can call us on 1 800 646 582.
- How long do I have to take up a Corporate Action?
A Corporate Action will usually specify a reply by date so that you can respond in time. The amount of time given to reply to a Corporate Action varies with each event, as some may allow more time than others. To help ensure that you are informed about a Corporate Action as soon as possible, you may wish to change your Corporate Action notification preferences to email, as postal notifications can take longer to arrive.
- What do I do if I can't take up a Corporate Action online?

- What happens if I do not reply to a Corporate Action?
If a Corporate Action requires a response, one of the response options will be a default option, which will apply if you do not reply before, the stated deadline.
