- Does it cost me anything to open an account?
It does not cost you anything to open your account. However an account management fee of €15 + VAT is charged on all accounts, if there has been no trading activity in the previous quarter. This fee applies to TD Waterhouse Trading Plus accounts with a cash and/or portfolio balances of €5000 or less
- How can I calculate my tax liability?
As TD Waterhouse is an execution-only broker we're not able to give any advice on your tax liability but we will be happy to provide you with any information regarding your account that you might need. Dividends and interest on cash held in your account are paid net of basic rate tax and we will send you a consolidated tax certificate at the end of the tax year detailing any tax paid on dividends in that year. Tax paid on interest will show in your statement but please let us know if you require a tax certificate for this.
- How can I change which page is displayed when I login to my account?
You can specify the first page that you go to when you login. You can choose to go to a variety of other pages, the trading page or your portfolio for example. Simply choose an option from the drop down menu under My Personal Details/My Starting Page.
- How can I see my account balance?
Your Account Summary shows a snapshot of all your account balance. You can see your cleared UK cash balance, the total for pending transactions, and your total equity value.
- How can I see my statement online?
Your account statement will be made available each quarter. You can view your statements online by clicking on the eServices menu option once logged into your account.
You can also see up to 18 months activity on your account in My Accounts/My History by selecting your desired start and end dates.
- How can I see the value of my shares in my portfolio?
My Portfolio shows a summary of the stock you hold in your portfolio under each market. If the market is open then the value for UK stock is based on a 15 minute delayed bid price but when the market is closed the value is based on the mid-closing price. International stocks show a closing price at all times.
- How do I close my Trading Account?
You can close your account by calling us on 1 800 646 582. Please make sure you have your password when you contact us, otherwise you will need to write in to close your account. Our address is: TD Waterhouse, Customer Services, Dept. AA1626, P O Box 4214, FREEPOST, Dublin.
- How do I get information on interest paid on my cash deposits?
Section 975 Tax Certificate details interest on uninvested cash held within a Savings Account and Cash Management Service Account. Please note that the Section 975 Tax Certificate is not issued automatically like a Consolidated Tax Certificate (CTC) and is available by request only. Please note that the Section 975 Tax Certificate was previously referred to as a Section 352 Tax Certificate.
- How do you send paperwork by email?
We do not send you any paperwork or documentation by email. We upload your documents into the eServices section of the secure website. Documents that you will receive here include, Statements, Corporate Action Notifications, Contract Notes, Corporate Actions and Consolidated Tax Certificates.
- I haven't received my Contract Note, what should I do?

- When can I contact you by telephone?
Monday to Friday 07:30 - 21:00 and Saturday 09:00 - 15:00.
- Why is the account management fee charged?
A fee of €15.00 + VAT per quarter will be charged on all inactive accounts.
This fee will be calculated on inactive TD Waterhouse Trading Plus Accounts, in arrears, on the last full weekend of March, June, September and December ("Quarter Dates"). An inactive TD Waterhouse Trading Plus Account is defined as an account that, at the close of business on the relevant Quarter Date, has had no trades executed on it since the previous Quarter Date, and has a cash and / or Portfolio balance of €5,000 or less. Portfolio valuation will be based on the closing mid price on the Quarter Date.
